Over the past 3 years I have completed 2 courses through Workplace Dimensions. Both of these were funded by Construction Skills Queensland. In December 2013, I attended the Certificate IV in WHS. This was delivered over a 5 day week, (in-class), with a small case study completed after hours at home. In 2015, I was one of the students offered a place in the first public offering of the Diploma in WHS, by Workplace Dimensions. This was run over a 3 month period, with a total of 9 days spent in the classroom. There was a substantial home-work-load, consisting of case studies, short answer exams, as well as designing SWMS, action plans and the like. I feel that the content covered within the period was very broad, and allowed for greater learning. After talking to others who have attained a Diploma of WHS through “other” RTO’s, its glaringly obvious that there is no way possible that they could have covered, or in fact learned, the required amount of information to truly be deemed as competent. You only have to talk with them to see this.
I cannot speak highly enough for the facilitators/tutors that I worked with during these courses. Especially Dr Paul Johnston PhD. He has an enormous wealth of knowledge in WHS, and a list of degrees as long as your arm to back it up, not to mention his previous work history. I found him to be very professional, personable, and his approach to teaching was excellent. Even students that had no previous experience in WHS, (and limited time within the construction industry), were seen to benefit from his tutor. His approach on how best to deliver the course speaks volumes. The programs are tailored to suit the individual, and who/where they work. Everyone can learn at their own pace, participation was always sought and encouraged, with no-one being left behind. The respect was always there and visible, from student to teacher, and teacher to student. Faultless. I endeavour to sit the Certificate IV of Training & Assessing with Workplace Dimensions, as soon as time and money permits. I’m THAT impressed with them.
I originally sought my Certificate IV in WHS to cover safety within my own organisation. However, with the knowledge I have gained, and experience I have, I am looking to move away from my current employment to seek new opportunities. I have only applied for one position, and although unsuccessful, the feedback I received was very favourable. I have currently been approached by another company to come on board as their senior HSE advisor. This is how well I have learned the material. People are approaching me….
Both courses were highly enjoyable for me. Having worked in the mining & construction industry for the past 20 years, made learning the material less daunting. The courses were run at the Sebel in Brisbane. Very professional rooms, relaxed, and the catered lunches were exceptional. If only I could have stayed longer! Returning to my regular job was not as exciting as the time spent in the classroom.
I have no qualms whatsoever in recommending Workplace Dimensions as an RTO. I have repeatedly pointed others in their direction, who are looking to gain a Certificate IV or greater in WHS, or, Training & Assessing.
Having completed 3 different courses with other RTO’s recently, Workplace Dimensions are not only far superior, but their attention to detail is unmatched.
