Patrick Doyle speaks to us about about completing BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety in Queensland.
I am a 24 year old electrician working in commercial construction and maintenance.
I enrolled in the BSB51315 Diploma of Work Health and Safety course to further my career and because I have a genuine interest in workplace health and safety, having already completed the BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety with Workplace Dimensions. I looked forward to furthering my knowledge in the area.
Having access to Construction Skills Queensland funding was very important to me because without it I would have been unable to enrol in the course. It’s also important because it gives everyone else who is in a similar position to myself an opportunity to better ourselves, which makes for a safer workplace for us all.
The things I learned about in this course are going to have an impact on me and the people around me at work, particularly the legal side of safety and the roles that accountabilities and responsibilities play in the workplace. Since completing this course I have been stressing to my colleagues the importance of dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s when it comes to paperwork and just in the way we do things in general.
I chose to do the Diploma with Workplace Dimensions after having completed the BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety with them. I knew what to expect as far as a very engaging and enjoyable course and Paul Johnston (the trainer) makes all the difference with on the job experience and providing real examples to make the information he provides really hit home.
I think it’s really important that this course continues to receive funding because it gives people like me an opportunity to complete study I would not normally be able to afford to complete. And the more people out there that have a greater understanding and more knowledge on safety the better, this will lead to safer workplaces and better culture within the workforce.
Workplace Dimensions exceeded my expectations again with this course; I cannot say enough about how well run these courses are. I would definitely recommend this course to others – in fact I already have.
