Natalie Armstrong, RoadTek QLD
As Workplace Training Coordinator, what does your day to day role entail at RoadTek?
I assess the training needs of all of our staff (approx. 100) and identifying skill gaps. I arrange all training required for our staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to carry out their duties.
Which Workplace Dimensions programs have you completed?
I have completed TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment, the additional TAELLN411 Assessing Adult Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) module and the Certificate IV Work Health & Safety.
Why did you choose Workplace Dimensions for your training?
Our organisation went through Workplace Dimensions for previous training so I knew the name. After completing the first program (Certificate IV TAE), I kept going back because of the fantastic facilitators.
How do you find the 5 day intensives in terms of depth and quality of the content?
There is a lot to take in and it is quite intense but the facilitators are very helpful. I originally couldn’t believe that it was possible to get through a Certificate IV in 5 days, but it definitely can be done! I actually found it better because you could switch off from work and just focus 100% on the course.
What was the quality of Workplace Dimensions facilitators?
All of the facilitators are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and approachable. I could not have asked for better facilitators.
How has the training you’ve undertaken help you in your role (or how will it help you going forward)?
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, even though I am not currently training, has helped me immensely in my role. Just understanding how Registered Training Organisation’s work and what is required, as well as gaining a better understanding of the different ways in which people learn. The additional LLN module (TAELLN411 Assessing Adult Language Literacy and Numeracy , the TAE upgrade) has also been great in allowing me to assist people with learning difficulties and knowing where to go for more information. As for the BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, I have much more extensive knowledge now about incident investigation, audits and risk assessments and I have been able to bring all of that knowledge with me into this role.
Having these qualifications opens up lots of new doors for me.
Would you recommend our programs to others?
Yes, I have. I have already booked in two more employees to the Certificate IV WH&S in Brisbane in October. In all courses, I learned a lot from the other ‘students’. It was very helpful to have us all in one room together because some of the issues I was having, other people were having as well and we were able to bounce ideas off each other.
